Happiness or Perfectionism?

Many people live their lives raising their expectations to an unrealistically high standard that can never be possibly met, with that type of standard they can never be satisfied or happy.
It all falls back to the problem of our individual mindset, we create illusions forgetting it is often perfectionism. Life rarely works out exactly the way we want whether in relationships, work, or goals and many times wanting happiness requires that you let go of those expectations and learn to be content with how things are, rather than how you picture they should be in an ideal world. Most of us folks live a fantasy life forgetting that change is constant!

Trust me, waking up to the real world in time is way much better, less painful and time saving. Studies have shown many ways perfectionism can destroy happiness.

1. It leads to feeling of regret.

In today's world, women shout and cry out for equality when they still do not believe in totally making their own income, and yet they maximize their mindset more than what they supposedly have. They have the mindset of "must have the best" that magnifies feelings of regrets and dissatisfaction. They set unseen goals for themselves and end up making irrational decisions that leads to rumination and finally regrets.

2. It hurts our self esteem and body image.

We compare our body appearances to what we see on the television, magazines, and even to folks around us. It can make one to set goals that are way to high or even may not match their personality. Sometimes, we get disappointed at ourselves for not having the right body type because we did not look so great in a dress as it was on the person we saw in it and we start losing confidence on ourselves and end up adoring that person instead of appreciating our individual beauty. I discovered that my body was for me to wield, and it was up to me to flaunt my own kind of beautiful or wallow in the mindset of not being beautiful.

3. It influences our creativity

Creativity is something many people lack in today's world. because of the illusion we see, we have totally blacked out the idea of creating our own brand, name, etc and we keep on craving for the already available one and it sucks us in and we get blindfolded at the idea that its all that matters. Well, here's something I know.
  • I always keep my mind focused that i can re-create anything i see.
  • I cannot rely on the products I see in the supermarket because they are not perfect! i can make my own hair shampoo if i want to.
  • I have full control of my mind and i can be anything and do anything.
Perfectionism is ultimately a mindset and the best way to let it go is to start building a new mindset. Now this is where happiness is found, it is not in a fixed place, it is not like a career, it is a decision. When you begin to let go of your old mindset, you realize that first, there is absolutely no path to happiness because itself is a path or a journey. Quit the thought of reaching a specific point in life before you'll become happy.

True happiness is to enjoy the present, without anxious dependence upon the future.
